The Barnacle is a cool gadget that is ideal for me. I often watch TV shows and sometimes movies on my iPhone so having a great stand like the Barnacle is ideal. With the iPhone 4S being released this is a great little holder for your desk when you are using Siri.

The holder uses suction to stick to any surface and the amount of uses are endless. You can use the iphone in your car by attaching to the windscreen or dashboard.

The Barnacle is around $5 in the US. I’m going to try and get hold of one and see if there is anything available in the UK.

Comme des Garcons is a Japanese brand and is based in Tokyo and also Paris. They also have a market store in Mayfair, London. They stock some of their main collections here and also some other brands. They have collaborations with their brands Play and Shirt with other brands.

Urbanears Plattan Headphones

Fashion orientated headphones being released seem to be the trend these days. A new company Urbanears are here to join this trend and have released 3 models of headphones that ooze style through simplicity. One of these models is the Plattan which is an on ear headphone.

We can see that they look the part but is it a matter of style over substance.

Colours

The Urbanears Plattan headphones come in a choice of 14 colours. They come in hues to suit every taste. I personally love the white, grey and aubergine colours. You can also get 3 impressive shades of blue and the army colour is so military. The canary and pink would look great on girls. The colours extend throughout the headphone including the padding and fabric coated headband.

Style

The styling is very plain and retro looking. The branding is very minimal which gets people staring at your headphones to see what they are.

Comfort

I definitely think that the headphones can be improved in this area. After 1 hour of wearing the Urbanears Plattans they start to feel a little uncomfortable. They can improve on the padding.

Practical

I think these headphones are quite practical as they are light and can be carried around easily. They are very portable as they have foldable ears although a carry case would have been nice. The metal adjustable hoops allow you to change the size and the cord is quite thick and isn’t very tangle prone. Looks very durable. Another handy feature is the built in mic which is great for you to use with an iPhone or your Blackberry.

The Zound Plug

This is one of my favourite features that proves really handy. The zound plug on the Plattan headphones allow you to plug in an external set of headphones and listen to the same music.

Sound Quality

For this price they are OK. Don’t expect them to be amazing. You don’t get much clarity and music sounds a little muffled. There is plenty of bass which is good and it does block out the exterior sounds.

Conclusion

I love them and I will go over style over substance. If you just want these headphones to use while listening to music on the go these are great. They are affordable so you can have room for another pair of headphones for that sound quality if that is your thing. I love these so much I might get a few different colours.
